Football Season is upon us.......

Our players wait til they get to the NFL to get arrested for the most part. ie Matt Jones, but on the other side we did have a coach texting his girlfriend while Wisconsin beat the p-waddle out of us. Running extremely talented receivers and quarterbacks off because they called him a goober in a book, a brilliant OC quit and went to coach at Tulsa when it became apparent that he could do whatever he wanted as long as it was one of the 13 plays they had in the existing playbook, finally got rid of Nutt ( my apologies to any Ole Miss fans) Maybe Petrino can turn it around in the next few years

This truly is the greatest season of them all. You have the fall feeling in the air, then the nights turn cooler and into winter. Prime tailgating to be had by all. The endless optimism of the fans early in the season. Unless you play Appalachain State that is. Dang them sub-division schools.

Anyway, Friday nights are my favorite! I love going to a high school field and feeling that sense of excitement. I am a high school official and just love being back on the beloved field. Being close enough to feel and hear the smack of the pads. And yes of course, hearing how poor my vision and judgement is. Oh yes, football season is here and it is to me the greatest time of them all.

As for toughest conference. I am a diehard Pac-10 fan. Having said that, I would really have to vote for the SEC. It pains me to say it, but the Pac really only has one school that will compete for the national championship.

First let me say I have no problems with the Big Ten Conf. Cannot stand Ohio State {no disrespect or hard feelings to any OSU or USC fans intended} (or USC for that matter) but in the last 15 to 20 years the SEC has without doubt become THE conference to beat. They have more top 25 teams week in and week out, year in and year out.

I completely agree Nitrous, especially about Ohio State! The SEC is loaded. When a team comes out of there undefeated they are doing something. I don't think any other conference could stack up against the SEC. Like I said, it pains me that the PAC-10 is so bad lately.

just saw the thread and i wanted to put my .02 in ....i bet your house is crazy on game days just be glad that ou and ark are not in the same conference anymore...also i got to say that the sec conf is by far the toughest conf....

IMHO the whole country needs to be worried about a little college in Conference USA in the next few years. Tulsa has one of the most brilliant offensive minds in the country coaching there. When Malazahn gets the recruiting up dont be surprised to see Tulsa in the top 5

Yeah we give each other a hard time about the "what if's" But we both agree on ONE thing, It's all good as long as you beat Texas ( which we have to do this weekend in Austin) But we are gonna have to play 100 times better than we did against W. Illinios and Louisiana Monroe
