First winter smoke

Got sick of looking at my idle mes30 all winter long. Decided to try setting it up in this (mostly) water tight room under our deck.  I can monitor temps from the couch and go out barefoot and check on things any time I want :)

Started my first winter butt this morning at 9:00 with temps at -4 deg.  Can't wait to see how this works out!

The pipe pops off where it leaves the window and a cap fits over it when not in use.

Looks like a really clever  way to enjoy smoking even in cold weather. Hope it turns out well for you. Let us know.

I like it but I have had the chip loader blow out of mine, spewing burning wood chips on my deck. Be careful

I don't use the chip loader because I saw one do that before. I have the cold smoke kit so that can't happen plus I only have to reload the chips once during a smoke. For added safety the whole thing sits on fireproof dura-rock.

I missed seeing the cold smoker attached I'll be watching

4 hrs in.

Smoker is holding 270 deg and the outside air temp is 14 deg.

That is a really cool smoking set-up.

Well just about 12 hrs in and hit IT of 203 deg. Gonna let it rest foiled in a cooler for an hour or two. Looks great! Started below zero and finished I single digits. Take that winter!!!
