First smoker build need help,60 gallon air tank

Hi I am new to the forums,I am doing a smoker using a 60 gallon air tank, the dimensions are 48 inches long,20 inches wide, or 65 inches in diameter by 124 inches in diameter. I’m looking for help figuring out chimney size ,smoker box size, and how high my reverse plate should be. I am making this as a gift and it will be going out of state, so I’d like it to be perfect. I am a welder,fabricator by trade but just having hard time figuring out smoker calculator, any help would be much appreciated and pictures of your builds would help. I don’t wanna make my tank wider than 20 inches. Thank you for your time you guys have lots of good stuff on your forums.also how thick of materials are you using, I have a quarter inch thick tank.

i think a fire box that is 20 wide x 16 tall x 16 high is big enough if knot let me know my tank is 20 wide what size chimney size whuld you run if you was doing it

I built a reverse flow from a tank the same size as yours last year. I used an 18" square FB. I used 4" ID pipe for my exhaust. I'll look and see if I still have all the numbers I used on mine.

That's a beefy looking FB.What thickness is it?

It's everything 1/2" top, 1/4" sides and back, and 3/8" bottom.

Thermal design or "run whatcha brung" - have laying around?
Nice plenum too.

It's what I had so I made it work. The plenum was 3/16" wall 6" square tube.

You burn wood or charcoal ?
What is the consumption rate?

Both and I add chunks every 45 min to an hour and a fresh lit chimney every 2-3 hours depending on outside temp.

Thanks I bought the steel for my FB today it will be 20x20x20 1/4 thick so I will have room for a charcoal and wood basket if any body have pictures of ther build that might help with numbers I would appreciate it I’m doing it for a gift for a good friend of mine and I will not be able to do anything to it with he gets it I don’t want to drive 700 miles to change something

thanks i appreciate all the help and pic my tank go to sand blasting next week i whuld like to see some more picks im thinking abought my FB the air vent holes size and place ment and my cole \wood rack and ash pan i just want it done right like i sead it is for a good frend so i want to knock it out of the park
