Allright, I finally got a little free time since this weekend to post some of these pics.  Some of you were following my build in the reverse flow forum, so here is some pics from the first cook with it.

Thursday got my rubs ready....

Left to right. Maddog's Butt Rub, TexasBBQ Rub (original), CJesse7's Rib Rub, and a Memphis Rub (generic).  The TexasBBQ Rub was a purchased rub.  The other three were recipes I found on the web.  The first two I put on the butts and the second two I put on the ribs.

started with 4 of these for a total of 37 lbs.....

wrapped them up and then put them in the fridge overnight.  Here they are the next day warming up to room temp....

The next day got the fire lit and smoker is up to temp....

I forgot to get pictures of the ribs when they came off, (mostly because we were starving and waiting to eat), but here is a picture of the only leftovers of the ribs 2 days later....

pulled them out at 5:00 a.m.,  over 14 hours in......  they each felt like a large pile of jiggly jello as I pulled them out of the smoker....

wrapped all 4 in foil, put them in a cooler and went to bed at 5 a.m....  woke up at 8 a.m. and started to pull them..... (little girl's bithday party started at 11 a.m.)

great smoke ring, tender as could be, fantastic bark.....  couldn't be happier.....

My conclusion of the rubs were as follows.....  I think the best rub flavor used this go around was the TexasBBQ closely followed by the CJesse7's rib rub.   Both were slightly sweet bark with a little bit of heat left from spices.   I was suprised the Maddog's Butt Rub was not spicier.  When I was making the Maddog's rub, it was the only one that hurt my eyes as I was mixing it. (It has very little sugar in it and is primarily based on chili powder and paprika)  I think the other rubs which had more sugar in them carmelized a little more and let some of the spices hang around.  All were very good, and I only had a small container of leftover pulled pork.  All in all, I think it was an outstanding first cook with my smoker, and I can't wait until this weekend.  If I get some time this weekend, I want to try some chicken quarters, ABTs, and maybe some brats....

Nice Butts!  And glad you said your smoker was new, cause that was the cleanest one I've seen on this site.  Looks like a great rig.
 
The butts looked so good I could taste them with my eyes. Really surprised you had any leftover ribs. Excellent.
Thanks....I cooked 1 full and 2 half racks originally intended for 6 people.  One couple got called into work (they're both cops and there was a bad accident locally) so, we only had 4 people eating.....
awwwwwesome post brother. Id do me a whole hogg if i had that puppy. What was your heating sources?
Thanks!  This was cooked with a mixture of oak and maple, with some lump hardwood charcoal thrown in.....
