Just started my first smoke on my new B-Mann Vert Trailmaster LE w/SFB. Not my first smoke ever but first one for this and my first Boston Butt. Rubbed it down with Italian dressing last night then rubbed it with a modified version of Chris Lilly's dry rub (added a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg). Rubbed it down with dry rub again this morning. Smoking with Cherry. Went in the CC at 7:45 am.

One more note. I am running a "double box" system in my SFB. I started by using one box for charcoal and the other box for wood chunks. The problem I kept running into was that, if I added cold charcoal to the box with hot coals in it, my CC chamber would drop 30+ degrees and I would have to open my vent all the way to normalize temps and if I walked away even a minute too long it spiked. I finally decided at the halfway point to start using both boxes for coal. When one runs low fill the empty one and slide it up against the hot one. Once lit you can slide them apart and drop your smoke in between to make your smoke last longer. I was shocked at the difference. Instead of a -30 degree swing followed by a huge spike my CC temp stayed flat.

Finally broke through the stall! IT moved 6 degrees in the last 40 minutes and seems to be picking up speed. Only a couple more hours.

So after 14 hours and a nearly 30 degree drop in the temperature outside combined with 15 mph winds that caused me some problems I finally reached the finish. Pulled it at 201 IT after running out of charcoal. Wrapped in foil and a towel and went in a cooler for an hour to rest then pulled it. Oh yeah, this totally happened.

That is some awesome pulled pork!  Great job.

That's a pretty smart way to do the firebox, with two baskets, I for one only use logs and a little bit of lump coal, but very neat way of doing it, something I haven't thought of.
