Hello all. I'm currently drawing up an offset smoker design using a 250 gallon propane tank. My question is about the firebox. I have 8 feet of 24" dia x 3/8" wall tube to make the firebox. It will be insulated. I have a 120 gallon vertical tank that's 30" dia and has 30" of usable straight tubing once I cut the ends off. That puts my firebox at 27" long x 23 1/4" inside diameter for a volume of ~ 50 gallons. According to what I've read, the recommendation is to size the firebox at 1/3 the volume of the cook chamber. Using what I have on hand, my box would be around 65% of the recommended 83 gallons. Can anyone tell me if my design will work or should I find the materials to build a larger firebox? Thanks!

There's a smoker builds category with several sub-forums with lots of good info.

Also an intro in the Roll Call forum isn't a bad idea either.
