Hi all,

I have a 4lb chicken that I am going to throw on the smoker today. This is my first chicken and I would like to know how long to cook it for at 230? Thanks.

At that temp for a 4 lber, should take 2 3/4-3 hrs. Highly recommend you use a probe thermometer, or an instant read thermometer (Acurite around $15 at darn near any grocery store) and use it. The important thing is to go by temp, not time. Check the yardbird in the breast (dont have the probe touch bone). Take it out when it reaches 170* and let it rest for 15 minutes. Will continue to cook some due to residual heat.
