First Brisket

This will be my first attempted at a brisket. What I have is just the flat and no point/tip. will that change my cooking time much? 
 
Yes, it will shorten your cook time. When you check for doneness, do the poke test in the thickest part of it.
 
No unfortinitly it never reopened that i know of. That cornbread was definitly amazing haha.
 
Any good barbecue around Abilene?  I'm a couple hours west of you and there is very little here that passes for barbecue. 
 
My driveway! Haha Joe Allens is about the only place i go to for bbq if we are eating in town.
 
CrazyQ I believe the part of your drive way being the only good place around.  Going east I usually have to get closer to Ft.Worth before I can find much barbecue.  Foamheart not many ranches out here in my part of West Texas, cows like to drink water, very scarce out here the last few years.  But there are a lot of oil wells!
