Don't see a lot of tri tip in my area so when I saw this one I figured I'd give it a try

Threw it over hot coals to get a good char. Then slid it to indirect heat to about 130. That was my goal but it went a little over but not too far.

nice I did mine the opposite, smoke then sear and like you I slightly over shot the temp to 134 Was still very good
 
I do mine like Clifish, smoke it then toss it on a screaming hot grill for a quick sear, then reat before slicing.

Nothing wrong with yours, looks good

I overshot on the grill did 2 minutes per side should have done only 1

Yes, I have 2 untrimmed ones in the freezer, want to do brisket style at some point.
