Wondering what you fellows use to pick up splits after they have burned a little, and you need to pull all the splits together in your smokers. My offset smoker is a pain in the butt to get your splits back together after it been burning for a while. I try to use my trusty ol poker, but it seems like it not the best thing to use.

I've use a BIG pair of tongs or a pair of welders gloves.

I have a shovel I use if the coals are too much but usually use my Lincoln welding gloves.

a lot of fire poker sets come with some fire tongs you can use. I use high heat gloves (not welders but rated to 939 degrees I got off amazon) I guess I just try to move the wood around a little for air and let it burn!

Happy Smoking,
