Finally got the smoker carried outside! My wife and I tried to get it out of our basement by ourselves and soon realized that there was absolutely no way that that was going to happen! A quick call to my dad and after having him ask about a hundred times why I built it in the basement and why I built it so heavy it was out of the house and parked outside! Made 8 lbs of cheese in it yesterday and am in the process of seasoning it right now so that I can start doin some real smoking in it. Within the first ten minutes of firing it up my wife looked outside and said "WOW you sure can see the coals from the wood chips through the vent!" THEY WERE ON FIRE! that was about enough fun for one day.

Thanks Dave! I have half of the cedar shingles on now and she is holding a constant 200 degrees like a dream! just had to figure out the right setting is all I guess and the negative temps outside defiinately aren't helping! it smells so good I just wanna throw meat on it right now!

I am super jealous of that house. I am not skilled enough to construct something that beautiful. Good work!

That smoker is sweeet, Toungue and groove boards, I have metal sheeting/roofing, Been thinking of building one next summer.

Thanks for all the great comments everyone! I can't wait to try it out on something other than cheese! Only 2 more hours of work and then I'll fire it up!

Doh all these smoke houses recently.  Now I want one.  Here I was getting ready to do a fridge conversion and now I see all these people with this sweet looking (much like this one) smoke houses and it makes me want to put one of them out back of my house.
