Brandy should be legal, I think its more of a % content question. But before I ever tried it I would refresh my knowledge of the legalities. If you decide you are serious let me know an I can send you some info to help you. Although since I can't see in your profile where you'd be attempting it, it would be really general.

I am in East TN, basically Thunder Road, I am retiring from my job of 25 years and have a list of stuff to do.

I have been smoking for 20 many weekends on a Brinkman Smoke and Grill and it is giving out and Need to replace, plus I want to learn some cold smoking stuff, and probably build a smokehouse. So winemaking will have to wait.

As Jimmy Buffett said in a song, "and there is so much left to do"

I have taste tasted over 250 beers now thanks to ABC's mix and match 6 pack. Lots of crap out there. Sam Adams my butt.

As to liquor, love the Crown Royal knock off, Wiser's Deluxe. Very good and much cheaper than Crown. One of our newer favorites is FIREBALL. I love mixing this with Evan Williams Eggnog during the colder months and Redd's Apple Ale during the summer.

I've really been getting into the honey whiskies (JD, Wild Turkey), and i had some Birddog blackberry whiskey mixed with ginger ale and that is a dangerous treat. If i'm in the right mind I'll have a jagerbomb or ten.

I drink rum.  Captain Morgans or Oakheart.  I also sip on bourbon a little....Kentucky bourbon only, though.

I like the 12, I didn't find the 18 to be significantly better to justify paying more. Once on a business trip I went to the hotel bar and decided to try the Macallan 25 out of curiosity. Very nice. A co-worker showed up, ordered a beer and said he'd pick up my tab too, until he looked at the check and said, OK you can get that!

As Col. Sherman Potter would say "not enough O's in the word smoooooth"

Ironically, being of mixed Irish/Mexican lineage my second favorite is

Now if I could just get the priest to get rid of that dang wine at Sat eve mass, and replace it with shots of Don Julio and Redbreast, I wouldn't need to go out afterwards (and I'd probably have a whole lot less confessing to do as well!!)

I bet the attendance would go up too!

Don't drink often, but spirits of choice generally involve Absolute Vodka (non-flavored of course) or good ole American whiskey.  I've loved a good strong screwdriver since my college days.  When I say strong, I mean you can see through the glass & contents (ie, mostly Vodka) with a little premium OJ for flavor.

When I retired from my last job they gave me a case of Jack Daniels.  I had brought JD infused sauce and BBQ in on many a day before I retired.  Guess they figured I need a lot more....

Random thought....

Current job is for State Revenue (yep, the alcohol guys).  Wonder what I will get from them when I retire?  And yes, I've started making contributions of BBQ already.....

I am going to smoke some cherries this weekend. then add them to some bourbon and lemonade and triple sec.  I believe it is a recipe I found under side items. It is time to change things up from the traditional Jameson that usually pickles my liver.
