So I have a few smokers & thought I would give some love to my first ( oldie but goodie ) & give it a little tune-up for a weekend smoke. It's a char broiler gourmet deluxe. It's pretty small & the SFB is even smaller. So I'm thinking of making a charcoal basket to get a few more hours ( hopefully ) out of a smoke.
I'm making it out of expanded metal. My question is, is there any kind of oils or residue I need to worry about or burn off? I'm not very savvy on this stuff & it seems good to me? Also what if it starts to rust after awhile? Will that also have to be removed again? I see others with an oldie that has rust all over the SFB with no problems?
