fordman, morning.... Yes it will be OK.... If you can, burn the pipe section that will be inside the cooking chamber... that will get rid of the coating... use a propane torch maybe.... stand up wind so you don't breath in the fumes.... I think the coating is Galv-Alum... zinc and aluminum or something like that.... either way, it should come off where food will be near it....
