Excuse to hang out on the patio all day?

I’m on my first “real” offset, and to keep it BLACK I’m out on the patio with a wire cup and linseed oil pretty often. Is it like a new car and I’ll stop caring after a while or should I got all out and sandblast the thing. I know the firebox won’t hold, it’s either constant attention or just shrug it off.
Does anyone else use this as a reason for sun, music and peace- and a few beverages or is there a bit of a more permanent solution I’m not aware of?

Been awhile ( years ) since I had my offset , and it was just a cheaper one .
Personally I would be careful using the wire wheel type stuff in a drill . The bristles are softer than the body itself and can leave deposits behind . That can show rust faster than the smoker itself .

Get some sanding sponges if you need to address some rusty spots .
I've always felt that the best maintenace was to use 'em , or atleast don't leave then covered for long periods .
