A few months ago I borrowed a friends electric smoker and smoked a turkey. It is the 1st time I ever attempted to smoke anything. My 7 yr old boy told me after that I was supposed to cook everything in the smoker from then on lol. I was hooked the meat was perfect and extra juicy. I have never had a turkey that juicy before. This is a new hobby for me so am excited to read what everyone does and learn from all of you and apply that to my smoking. I told my wife I needed my own smoke so we bought a 4.5 cu smoke hollow smoketronix smoker. I did another turkey as my wife didn't get any of the 1st one. I brined it for 24hrs then dry brined for 24hrs. I cooked it in the smoker for 9hrs then finished it off in the oven. The wife has now told me that I will be cooking Thanksgiving dinner. 3 days after cooking the turkey we made our last sandwiches and the meat was still extremely moist. I am hooked and am now researching on here to cook a whole fryer chicken.

thank you all. well I smoked a whole fryer chicken the other night. I brined it for 24 hours then smoked it for 3 and a half hours. i used hickory and apple wood mixed together. My wife usually whines about something lol but not this time. Today I ate the last of it in a sandwich and even 3 days later it was still perfectly moist. this weekend for mothers day I will do 4 racks of ribs so I will be researching here for the perfect way to do them up. I also picked up 4 turkey legs to smoke as my wife loves the smoked turkey legs at the fair. I am betting that these will be much better. I will be smoking the ribs with Jack Daniels chips just fyi. I did pick up some different chips yesterday. I bought alder and also cherry. no idea on what to use them for yet but hey a guy cant have to many chips can he?
