Originally built to swing the schwenker, the tripod always meant to be multi purpose. I've made a couple mods so thought I'd post it up here in case anyone needs one. After all soup season is here.

I looked at all the online tripod and none of them really appealed to me. So I built my own.

Used 6' black pipe, eye bolts and a bolt and nut. 1/8" Wire rope, two carabiners and a pulley. The recent addition is a ratchet strap ratchet, for raising and lowering the wire rope. I capped the ends with threaded black iron caps. Some one mentioned not sealing the pipes all the way as it would create a BOMB. I do have holes drilled in the pipe so that should be fine. I'm not sure that it is much of a problem as the pipe never gets overly hot.

I welded the eye bolts into the top of the pipe. For those that don't weld, you could use JB Weld to accomplish the same thing. The size of the eye bolts were what fit the best in the pipe.

We'll see how the ratchet goes. As long as there's tension on the wire all is okay.

Total cost was more than $20, but less than $30.

When not in use it all folds up together and besides the 6' length doesn't take up much space.
