A United States Navy Admiral attended a conference that included Navy
Admirals from the U.S., England, Canada, Australia and France.
At the cocktail party, the U.S. Admiral was standing with a large group of other officers that included personnel from most of the countries.
While everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks a French admiral suddenly voiced a complaint. "We Europeans learn many different languages, but Americans learn only English.
And why is it that we Europeans always have to speak English during these conferences rather than speaking French?"
Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied, "Because the Brits,
Canadians, Aussies, and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German!
