Bought a Brinkmann Sportsman from CL with the idea of using it for duck and Chicken. Read through the various posts on modding to ECB configuration.  Have it to the point where it is time to try a chicken to see how it operates now that most of the mods are done. Now I need to move from reading how to do the mods to how to set up a fire, prep and cook the meat.  If all goes well I hope to move on to beef and pork. Going to start simple with Kingsford and some hickory chip packages. Walmart has a good price on Royal Oak for later trials.

Setup is on the screen porch on top of a concrete slab. I plan to put a water filled tray underneath to catch any hot ash.

Here is my grill.

You can see other larger annotated image in my gallery album.

While at Harris Teeter today I found a small tailgate grill for sale.  It has an 11.5" grill and cost about $8.50. Might try to adapt it to my ECB.

Welcome from a fellow ECB owner.  Only difference is that I call it my UECB, as it is really ugly after all the mod's and tinkering I do with it.  Don't let them talk you into upgrading.  Fine tuning with the ECB will get you some great smoked product.
