Morning folks,
I'm curious about what ya'll doing for Easter? Since me and Ann are now empty nesters. We're very unconventional when it comes to holiday meals when we're by ourselves. We were actually the same often when we had kids in the house. One year we had a pizza party!
This year. We are doing a ham. Picked out a Wegmans signature glazed bone in spiral cut ham.
Now, I'm deciding how to cook it. My cabinet electric smoker got damaged when the shed roof collapsed.
So, that leaves the pellet smoker. Or oven, or crock pot method. Weather is supposed to be good. I'm betting the smoker will be the go to.

Weber kettle ? Some hickory chunks ,,, add a ham . Some sticky pig mustard sauce at the end .

Kids are going to their Mom's side . Sisters are doing a ham at my Mom's house .
I was just out there last weekend . Have to go again this week to fix sh,,,,, stuff .
I'm thinking staying here . By myself . Nice and quiet .

Empty nesters here also. Picked up a small bone-in spiral. The weatherman is saying wind and rain on Sunday so it will be an indoor cook. Next week the wifey will be whipping up some pea soup with the leftover carcass.

Was just going to be us, but now 11 people. A 12lb spiral ham, smoking a de-boned turkey breast, scalloped taters, veggies and some crab meat stuffed shrooms.

There'll be around 25 of us getting together after church. Meal will be smoked ham with about any fixin you can imagine. Also a huge Easter egg hunt for all the kids. Some of the eggs we have filled with candy and some with money, mostly change. The "golden" egg will have a $20 bill in it...

We actually do 2 hunts, one for the young children where we just throw the eggs on the ground and one for the teenagers where we really hide them. Also will play a bunch of games. Here's a list of them...

A few years back, we had a huge banner made that we'll hang. It's always a good time celebrating the life of Jesus and his rising from the grave...

Wife unfortunately had to go into the hospital a few days ago, she is recovering, im running back and forth, but i bought a new sous vide unit. Ive been loving it, im cold smoking a couple of pork shoulder steaks right now for a few hours. By the time they are smoked i will salt and vaccum pack them. Head up to visit the wife, then for supper sous vide them, and a nice hot sear. This is an experiment for me so hopefully it works.

Happy Easter
Corey

Freezing our butts off at College baseball games. Wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

We have our youngest daughters birthday today. Her husband, Daniel will be grilling something here at our house. Not sure what but it is supposed to be special. Tomorrow, Easter Sunday, is a crock pot chuck roast while we are in church. Then its Royals baseball. It is going to be nice getting all of the kids and grandkids together again.

I was looking to do some lamb but what I've seen in the stores lately isn't up to par and the local Armenian market was out and like a dope I didn't pre-order. Plus the weather is supposed to be crappy anyway.

Sorry to read about your wife. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Actual Easter Sunday...Sourdough starter discard biscuits and sausage gravy with homegrown eggs for brunch, start a sourdough loaf while the weather is still cool enough, Deer chili for dinner with lime tortilla chips.

Couple of my adult step-kids are coming today for an "Easter" meal. Smash burgers for my first time because one of them is weird about pink in the meat and I refuse to overcook stuff. Smash burgers are the epitome of "fully cooked" and they cant suck. I made my popular potato salad and the wife made her popular deviled eggs. 5 bean salad and a vegetable and dip tray.

SF GIANTS ON TV, NASCAR, GOLF, MOST LIKELY FIRE UP THE KETTLE FOR BURGERS

I wish . I don't they race on Easter .
Burger idea sounds good . Think I'll copy that one .
THANKS RICH, I SEE THAT NOW. THE TRUCK BOYS WERE ON LAST NIGHT AND THE MINOR LEAGUERS GO OFF IN ABOUT AN HOUR. LOOKS LIKE THE NEXT NASCAR RACE WILL BE NEXT WEEK ON MASTERS SUNDAY. GUESS THAT'LL MAKE TWO WEEKS OF NO NASCAR FOR ME!

Running 1 brisket (will make burnt ends - just went over Jeff's approach here) and 2 pork butts and some sausage -- for today's FINAL FOUR hoops games. GO ILLINI. Tomorrow, will go to my parents (nearby) for some ham, deviled eggs, etc, etc.. Happy EASTER.

My wife and I are staying at the Mark Hopkins hotel in SF' Nob Hill area.
We got checked in yesterday afternoon, had a few drinks at the top of the Mark, which is a well known bar at the top of the Mark Hopkins hotel. Had the best short rib sliders ever, they literally melted in your mouth. Got a good buzz going, then we walked two blocks to the Masonic Temple to see Lamb Of God in concert. We had amazing V.I.P access, got to hang out with a bunch of really cool bands, eat great food then watch the perform in front of a completely sold out concert, what a great show, yes I have a hangover. So it's time for a few beers and a Molanari's Italian sub sandwich.

Then a nap, and some local metal bands.
Sunday we're have ng brunch at the Huntington hotel, then heading home to warm up a ham for Mom & Pop's.

Being retired with a little money in your pocket, ain't half bad. LOL!!!

I hope you all have a great Easter .
God Bless.
Dan.

Dropping off some treats at the local fire station in the morning.
Our son is a firefighter in North Dakota so my wife adopted our Florida fire station.

A batch of Bear's Peanut Butter Melt Away cups.
Personally I don't like them, but the masses love them including our gluten free friends.

And my version of Rice Krispies Treats.
I've been making these for about 40 years and always a fan favorite.
50% plain Rice Krispies and 50% Cocoa Krispies. These are one of my sweet weakness.
Note, also gluten free.

Then off to Disney Springs to get in some steps walking around the grounds.

Later we're grilling at the pool side with friends
