So, I've been thinking about volunteering to help with a couple competitions this summer, just to learn the ropes. This got me thinking.

If you could form a competition team of 4 or 5 people from the ranks here on SMF, who would it be and why?

And for our purposes here, because it's just for fun and completely make believe, even those among us who have passed into the Thin Blue Beyond are eligible.

Here are my picks in no particular order:

FPNMF (Craig) because he seems to get the true spirit of enjoying sitting around a smoker, and would no doubt bring the best cigars and coffee.

KathrynN (LadyKat) Her posts are always supportive and extremely helpful. Plus, she seems to have some really incredible family recipes, and would make us all a nice breakfast.

Chef Jimmy J (JJ) He's been a mentor to most of us here, and has some incredibly solid knowledge of all things food. Besides, the resulting wrestling match between he and I over the relative benefits of brining would be extremely entertaining for the rest of the team.

Scarbelly (Gary) His sense of community and doing the right thing would be an inspiration to us all. RIP.

Nepas (Sadly, I don't know his real name) Well, he has an RV. :) Plus his knowledge of sausage and smoking in general would be invaluable.

SmokinHusker (Alesia) She seems like a very knowledgeable, level headed gal who might be able to keep the hotheads in check.

Ok, so that's 6, and there are about 100 more whom I'd like to have on a team. These were just the first ones who occurred to me.

Who are your picks?

Awwww.....Thank you for including me in the Krewe!!!  BTW...this weekend I am helping with a comp here in Huntsville....and I am making breakfast and RoadKill Cafe's pastrami for folks for dinner.
