I was at the grocery store and saw that they had Dragon Fruit on sale. I've never had it and remembered our daughter saying that our 2 youngest grandgirls love it so I bought 2. They look interesting...

Even more interesting cut in half...

I was informed by the grands that the proper way to eat them is to scoop out the middle with a spoon...

Got to get it all...

I'll say that despite its looks, the taste is bland and I wasn't impressed at all, but they love them. To me they're a novelty and not worth the money...

The only time I've ever had dragon fruit was in a dragon fruit smoothie I got at a farmer's market in Hawaii.

It was incredibly good! Of course, I don't know what was in it in addition to the dragon fruit, but it was great.

According to Wikipedia:

AI Overview

How to Tell If a Dragon Fruit Is Ripe or Overripe

A ripe dragon fruit should have bright, vibrant skin (red or yellow) with few blemishes and feel slightly soft to the touch, similar to a ripe avocado or kiwi. Look for withering, drying, or curling green "wings" on the skin, which indicate it is ready to eat. Avoid overly mushy or dull-colored fruit
