Downdraft hood

I recently installed a downdraft hood on my Daniel Boone, my fire board temp and grate temp are 30 degrees different and 50 degrees different on the upper grate. Before I added the hood my temp in the center of the bottom grate matched my fire board. Anyone else have this issue?
