Wow that's impressive. It looks good for the amount of time it's been done. That boot and weight bearing is fast she wish mine had been that quick. Good luck and follow the doctor's and wife's orders

I hear ya! First two broken ankles (both right) I was in a hard cast with no weightbearing for 8 weeks. Makes rehab so difficult and the muscle atrophy massive. I feel like my new guy is more progressive. He says moving it now without weight will help rehab a lot. Feels more right - but man is it stiff!

We were able to go out to lunch after the appointment yesterday. Felt like Christmas! Planning another meal out this weekend. Burgers and beers I hope. Its funny, we dont eat out much, but after being trapped inside for weeks, getting out feel special.

These were taken Wednesday. Looking pretty good for 2 weeks post op. 2.5 weeks till weight bearing starts. Gets pretty sore when I dont wear the boot...doc said I could take it off as much as I wanted but that did go as well I hoped. so scaling the boot free time down.

100% agree! This is only10 days post op. Much less swelling and bruising than I expected by a long shot! Pain is manageable with Tylenol, I really think the surgeon knows what he is doing. Having broke my right ankle twice and four surgeries…this one is miles better.

Outside of the foot swelling because some isn't keeping it elevated enough ... looks great.
Are you cleared to do a one legged walk on a treadmill?
Visited my neighbor briefly when I delivered my home made bagel wrapped hot dogs. He had some kind of fusion surgery a month ago. PT was brutal and he had a couple of goose eggs o ice down.

No walking at all yet. Just sitting up with foot on the floor. Swelling has gone down quite a bit in the last week. Weight bearing starts in 1.5 weeks! Seems unimaginable right now.

Have you heard of an "H Wave machine", Dave?
They are amazing for non weight bearing injuries, you should talk with your DR or PT team about getting one. I use one for my back/neck and torn bicep injuries, they feel like your standard Tens unit, but they work completely different. They use them to rehab pro athletes, and race horses. Have you ever wondered how pro athletes bounce back from severe injuries so quickly? Many swear by this "H Wave therapy". They cost about $5000 to buy, but many PT centers will loan them out if asked. I asked for one as part of my Workman Comp settlement, and got the best they had to offer, I swear by it.
Nows the perfect time to be using it, it's worth a shot, I'd call my Dr if I was you, all he can say is no, but if he says yes, you'll understand what I'm talking about quickly.

Thanks! Miles ahead of the first two broken ankles! Ride the spin bike is loosening it up and dropping the swelling. Should have pics of the hardware next week

in a rare turn of events, GOOD NEWS!

I can walk in the boot, full weight for three weeks then ditch the boot! No restrictions after another 5 weeks. I seriously love my ortho doc. Imagining looks great! No screws in the tibia, he implanted a "post" that will eventually become bone. F'ing magic!!

many thank David. this is a big step forward and now my issue is less of a family burden, which has weighted heavily on me.
