I despise california in general after living there way to long...Nothing against the people there but the laws and taxes are out of control....I wonder why people are leaving that state in droves

We had the same thing in the Phoenix area. NO wood fires. They talked about looking for any smoke and fineing the ppl.

That right there is why I live in San Diego not San Francisco -

Well I didn't want to say anything in my last post BUT this is one of the reasons we left the bay area in the first place. to many regulations.
We do have an air problem here. Not sure why as the winds always blow at a 45mph.

Move to Wisconsin and lighter up, we could use the heat, I think the high here today was 12°

I actually just moved a year ago from the west valley. With my line of work with Pulte Homes we started getting schooled on the clean air act for the valley. It has failed for years to meet the government standards..mainly because of dust it is the highest pollutant in the valley. If we were to drive on any dirt at a job site we had to do numerous things to comply with the new regulations from a couple years ago. There are so many factors for the air there it would take a whole page..Plus all the pollutants from california blowing in..lol

Hmmmm, I'm a little torn here. But as a father of a child with asthma, these days where the "fine particulate matter" combined with "no winds" CAN be scary. And since this is a one day ban confined to the affected counties where they expect the problem to be...I don't see a problem with it. You gotta remember it's not just smoke in the air, but the smoke is the one thing that can be controlled.

Yes, it's a little like second hand smoke, but you can't get away from it. You go inside and keep the place closed up. We have a fairly expensive HEPA air filter to run if necessary. It doesn't completely clear everything up, but it does help. For me, it's many hours of sitting and watching him to see if he's gonna have a problem.

Even here in little 'ol Des Moines, Iowa we have a 365 day burn ban in effect for outdoor fires unless it's for cooking. I've only witnessed a handful of these days in Iowa, but remember them quite frequently when I lived in Denver, CO.

I also moved from there long ago due to.....well ya'll know who lived there!

Smoke is the least of there problems. Update: I lived in So.Cal. 91214 zip code not that pelosi region.

dave......it does not apply to food preparation. burn baby burn!

I live in Sacramento CA and this time of year the fog sets in on the central valley and it acts like a blanket to keep in all the smoke in. Here in Sac county they leave it up to ytour neighbors to police it and will only respond is someone complains. I say burn anyway. If I want to sit int he back yard and have a fire in the fire pit and an adult beverage that's what I'm going to do. My neighbors leave me alone.

It's kinda crazy up in that part of Ca. I lived in the San Jaquine Valley for 13 years. That is a crazy state, got 2 kids there along with an ex. Wouldn't want to go back for anything, about the only thing I liked about the state was the tri tip, and the mountains.
