With the Winter Weather Closings and cold artic air I ask each of you to call and check on that elderly friend or parent . Lonely and COLD are silent killers . I know you don't know me but I have a list I call every other day in my neighbor hood and some family members getting on up there in life . Let's not forget to call them and help them through this cold snap ( at least in Texas ) . We in Texas are not used to it being 12 degress or whatever it's getting down too. Simple things like helping them with the pets or dropping them off a loaf of bread and some fresh coffee or making sure the heaters in the homes are working properly and the pipes are wrapped . Also if you have jumper cables make sure they are in your vehicle as cold always kills somebody's battery and they get stranded . Thanks SMF for the space .

I agree fully , reach out and help others. You just might get a good feeling from it...
I hope someone remembers to call me. I'm left alone and cold(shouldered)every day.And I might get into trouble(hope-hope)if left unattended.

Thanks for the reminder to everyone, I appreciate you doing so.

I shoveled my neighbours front porch and walk today and put down some "snow melt" crystals. He's older and sure can use the help.

Folks, don't forget the elderly that live by themselves. Just knock or call to say hi.

It's got to be tough on you folks that aren't use to this stuff.
Here in the Snowbelt of NY it's just an everyday thing to look out for your neighbor in the storms, and we get a few.
Great thread , hope it helps others and entices others to help throughout the winter season
