Does this sound like a creosote buildup problem

I have been having some issues with a lot of black tar like build up on my blazn grill works pellet grill. I often use an amps with it.
I have also noticed when I cold smoke some items, I get more of a sour/sweet smell than a smokey smell.

LAst night when I could smoked a papa murphys for about 45 minutes, it was real noticeable.

Is this being caused by creosote?

what holly said, all I use is the mailbox mod also. I would scrap out your smoker too.

I also vote for cleaning out the MES. Here is what I posted about what I found when my MES built up too much of a creosote coating:

My smoker is a pellet grill. I have made the mailbox mod for my MES, but don't really want to cut into my pellet grill
