I pondered this while running a more permanent extension cord to my Rec Teq. In short I ran it out an old conduit from the garage then under the deck and up. its way better. I use a portable GFCI thing and thats in a surge protector.

The Question: Do you unplug your pellet grill between cooks? I am guessing yes but figured I would get opinions.

I have a different brand. I do unplug mine but just do it out of habit much like unplugging a hand drill.

My OJ's grill never has pellets left in it per OJ's recommendation. If mine accidentally got turned on, no fire would start.

Good question.

Nope. I'm paranoid about mine. The only times it has had an issue was when I thought I'd be ok. Don't remember the specifics, but maybe twice three times I had a flame out while either walking the dog or quick run to the store. Thing pumped itself full of pellets.

I don't own a pellet grill, regardless I leave nothing plugged in especially outdoors. Why even take the chance of something stupid happening.
Probably the most valid point.

with my new set up its easier. Just walk in the garage and plug it in. Rec Teq is on the deck

No I don’t! I have a Yoder 640 and they recommend that it gets unplugged after every use.
Not sure what other companies recommend but when I had a RecTeq and Green Mountain I always unplugged them also.

I didnt check the manual. Probably should have, seems obivous now.

And there ya go, Rec Teq manual says "When not in use, unplug and cover with recteq Premium Grill Cover." Case closed.

I unplug mine, but it also gets pulled outside to use and stored in the garage. I'd unplug it even if I had a permanent spot for it.

I'm going with sometimes. I run mine off an extension cord in the barn. If I don't need the cord for anything else, it stays plugged in between cooks.

When mine shuts down, you have to actually turn the switch off and back on to use it again. Sometimes I forget to turn the switch off after it shuts down.

Mine is stored in the garage right next to the overhead door and stays plugged in 100% of the time. When I use it, it is turned 90 degrees and moved maybe 3 ft to be outside the garage. There is a 2 foot extension cord connecting it to the outlet. When I put it away for the winter, it gets unplugged and the cover is placed over it and stored where it is when in use.

You and I are alike 😎I never read the manual until I have issues now when it comes to instructions on assembling something I’m always in trouble

Once upon a time my Recteq had a remote start option. Unplugging it negates that luxury. It’s still there, just need to use the tuya app instead of the Recteq app.

Mine is plugged directly into a GFCI so I just leave it plugged in. It is in the garage though.
