So Lake Cty, FL
I replaced the mechanical float switch on my sump pump with an electronic one a few years ago. I kept the old float switch thinking there must be a repurposed use for it. Here is my result.

Float switch on the left and clockwise is the $5 Amazon purchased palm switch, handy box and cover, and the cord strain relief.

Cut the cord at the float, stripped the jacket and prepped the wires.

The 1/2" knock out in the handy box matched the palm switch perfectly.
This isn't aluminum wire, but I still use the paste in wiring connections.
Did you remember to put the jamb nut over the wires before making the connection? Been there done that

Installed the jamb nut to complete mounting the switch.

Installed cover on box and I have a $5 foot or toe switch.
OK, a cover will cost you $1 and the handy box $3 and the strain relief $1. I already had all 3 in my electric box so my only direct cost is the $5 palm switch.

Position which ever way you prefer as foot or toe. The angle is higher than a purchased ($50) foot switch and the toe switch feature is really nice to stop the grinder.

A foot/toe switch on your grinder is priceless.

Thanks for the like normanaj normanaj and JLinza JLinza for the reply.
Debated the build for a long time and when I discovered the palm switch fit the 1/2" KO it was a no brainer. I'm thrifty (some call it cheap) but need make it work.

That's a great idea! I can see a run on palm switches now! I used my big grinder once then gladly paid the $50 for a foot switch and loved it ever since. This is just way cheaper.
