For all of you smoking meat folks, what kind of dishwasher detergent cleans your racks up good?  We scored a good deal here this past Friday.  On Kijiji,ca, there was a portable dishwasher for sale.  We had been looking for one, this advertiser wanted $50 for it.  Since I have an education in major household appliances, i figured It would be a useable, but needed maintenance from time to time.  We go to pick it up. got it for %0, it had no tap attachment, that being the thing you screw into the end of your water spout, so you can hook it up.  So on the way home, we stop at local appliance shop, he comes out and looks at, then says I will give you 250 for it.  No thanks, we bought the needed part and headed home.  The next day, we went to the store, looked at Dishwasher Detergent and were baffled.  We came home with a cheap store brand.  It does not remove the smoke from the racks at all.

Any Ideas or knowledge would help.

You wash your racks??? Dawn pods does as advertised on grease. Cascade does good too. But you wash your racks??
Yes I do, I own a 30 MES with window in the door.  After the dishwasher not even washing some of the food off of them, we sprayed them with oven cleaner, about 20 minute later rinsed them off, then went at them with a SOS pad.  I have yet to get out and inspect them today.

Mrs Bear uses Dishwashing soap, SOS pads, and a lot of elbow grease on my MES 40 grill racks. Those racks must be washed.

The cast iron grills on my Weber Q only need brushing.

We use amway on our fryer baskets and it does good needs hot water. The sink soap does good when the teenagers will take a little time. I have the dish washer at the lake don't have one hooked up yet at home. On my honey do list over a year now :-( will take some to the lake and try to do before and after photo to see. Then I might get dish washer hooked up as I do most of my smoking here.
