Just fyi, consumer reports has Bosch in 13 of the top 15 dishwashers. After that there is a couple LG thrown in there.

After my old dishwasher that worked great for many years was replaced I bought a Whirlpool a few years ago. That thing been nothing but a pain! Time to replace it. Trying to stay around $500 if possible. BestBuy has some pretty good sales right now but not sure what to get? Would like to get a Bosch bit they just to $$.

I recommend one that has a food grinder instead of a filter. Changing those filters is a pain, and if you don't clean them often enough, they don't drain totally. I've bought used before with no problems - usually when someone is moving in and replaces the installed one.

Son bought a Bosch and it broke down 2 times in 2 years, was cheap fix first time and replaced the 2nd time, I bought a Maytag this time without a Food grinder, works great. I worked at sears for 21 years, our DW guys all said stick with whirlpool/KitchenAid. Maytag is also owned by whirlpool.

Not direct knowledge here - just hearsay, so take it as it's given...

A little over a year ago Mrs. Red and I were in the market for a new refrigerator. I had a guy who works for a major appliance manufacturer tell me that, when considering the mass-market, consumer-grade products, don't sweat one brand over another, because - according to him - all those manufacturers have made the same conscious decision to produce products with an expected life of no more than 5-7 years. They don't want 'em to last longer than that...cuz they want you go buy another one when it breaks. He said this wouldn't really apply to the luxury, or high end brands like Viking, JennAir, SubZero, etc...because they're in a different class (and also with a different price tag lol).

Don't know much about dishwashers...but wouldn't be surprised if the same were true for them. If it's true, it might not make much difference which brand you chose, unless you're gonna give $2K for a new Viking.

Just get a couple of dogs and name one Soap and the other Water. That way if any one asks if the plate they are about to use is clean, just tell them it is as clean as Soap and Water can get it. Bonus is you never have to clean any scraps off the plate into the trash/garbage disposal.

First Bosche lasted 23 years. Bought a second model 800. Best Buy scratch and dent Just no box or manual. Saved like $500.

Well I end up getting a piece of glass from line which sounds easier than it was. Been working since than. Now the pump to sprayers stopped. Got it working once more than started to have to kick it to get working. I bought a LG - 24" Front Control Built-In Stainless Steel Tub Dishwasher with 3rd Rack, Quadwash, and 48dba - Stainless Steel on Memerorial Day with no tax that day. It is finally coming now. Now if I can get installed without to many problems!

Honestly, we have had good luck with a few Whirlpools, especially if/when need any repairs. Have also had Asko, Bosch, and LG.

Well after having this LG dishwasher for a while now thought would report back. I love this thing! Cant believe I put up with that piece of crap I bought last time. Love the third rack. I would suggest it to anyone. So happy with the brand I ordered a new Lg OLED77C4PUA TV this week.

Bosch out of warranty is $85 for like the first 7-10 minutes. Never again, while they’re under warranty they’re great but as mentioned earlier out of warranty service is so pricey might as well buy a different brand to replace it.

I have an appliance buddy who deals Bosch. He is also regularly repairing them. We could have gotten one at his cost from him but we didn't like the interior configurations and none of them had heated drying (then and there). Although I've had to replace the main control panel board out of warranty, we're very happy with the Maytag we bought because it does a great job and has a drying cycle. Main downside is the silverware holder is just OK. We actually use part of the old ones we kept from the dishwasher we replaced. They just dont make the parts as sturdy as that 25 year old Whirlpool in today's "regular Joe" priced machines.

I know how to replace them now so they can be disposable! I just helped my dad replace his $600 (at my appliance buddy's cost to him) dishwasher. He got the same model because the color to match everything else was only available in that model (cant remember the make right now). So he basically "rented" that first dishwasher for 5 years at $10 a month! Of course his replacement labor was free and I picked up the dump fee along with some stuff from my house.

I'd say choose the dishwasher that you like the most in the price range that works, keeping in mind https://home-depot.pissedconsumer.com/return-policy.html in case you need a repair or replacement. Chances are, there is going to be a repair or replacement in your future either way.

If you want a dishwasher around $500, Bosch is mostly out of reach unless you buy open-box or refurbished. Your best bet is a new Whirlpool WDP540HAMZ, LG LDFC2423, or a basic Samsung DW80R series. They are reliable, quiet, and will outperform your current Whirlpool.

When the third dishwasher we've bought started leaking or quit working, each lasting about 8 years (GE, Whirlpool, and Kenmore), and it became just me and my wife, I said no more dishwashers. Been handwashing dishes ever since. We have knives and pans that have to be handwashed anyway, so what the heck.

BUT, if we ever decide to buy another, Bosch will top the list.

The Bosch we left in our last house was at least 12 years old and running like new. Put the same on in our new home after the POS GE died shortly after closing.
