Well went to United Supermarkets today and they had 10 whole chicken in the discount bin. Planning on getting them on the pellet pooper whole. Not sure if i should do all the same seasoning or if i should do different flavors.

That same exact brand showed up at my local Market Basket for .99/lb. Took a look and immediately passed them up, they were bizarre looking in shape and had way to much liquid in the packaging.

Interesting. I have never had an issue with pilgrims chicken. I usually buy my whole birds from Costco in a box of ten but figured these saved me a 45 min drive. Mine don't appear to have an obscene amount of liquid in them, they appear normal to me.

Nice score ! Pilgrams Pride is considered a top brand of poultry . They don't sell it here anymore , so I buy Perdue . Pass on Tyson .

Try the Pop's brine tweak with the orange or lemon extract . It's great .
1 gallon water
1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tsp orange or lemon extract .
Inject and soak over night .

First time ever seeing this brand in our local store(s) and all I can say is they were sickly looking.

Don't have time really to let them brine. They need cooked or froze today.

That's weird. I would expect that from Tyson but like Chopsaw said Pilgrim Chicken is a top brand for chicken. I would be curious as to the batch those ones came from.

Decided to pull my lineup of Dan-o's out for these birds

It's good that you're cautious , but that's not a spoilage date . Plus if you're in a salt brine plus injected , that works against the bad stuff .
I'd have no issue brining one , and freezing the rest .
I'd break them down into parts .
I also have threads on combining the breast halves and doing the boneless breast roast / smoke thing .
This is turkey , but I've done the same with chicken .

Here's the product date description on USDA website , if you're interested .
Scroll down the page about halfway .

Thank you for the information. I was mainly saying I didn't have time because I have a lot going on this week. I decided to smoke 4 whole chickens tonight plus the hearts and livers that came in them. The others I will break down tomorrow morning into pieces and freeze.
