Did a quick sprint from Annapolis to Minneaoolis and back Monday-Wednesday this week. Wednesday morning got a call from a buddy who was following my progress on "find my friends" on the iPhone. He figured I'd be pretty tired and might need a pick me up, so looked up BBQ joints around where I'd be at lunch time. Found Deets not too far off the road. Gotta say it wasn't bad at all. Had a pulled pork sandwich and slaw. Right around 9 bucks. The meat was pretty tender and not too dry. Good smokey flavor. The sauce was a little different. Kinda sour tasting. Not like it had gone bad, but like it had lemon juice or something in it. Coleslaw was pretty standard institutional grade, but not bad. Overall I was grateful for the food and the rest stop.
Always nice to have friends looking out for me. I'd have never thought to stop for BBQ but I'm glad I did.

Pretty tasty lookin' sammie, Boatbum.  It's nice to sometimes stumble across a good joint that knows what their doing.  Driving from Annapolis to Minneapolis and back over 3 days?  I'll bet you needed a day or 2 to recover from that many hours behind the wheel.  Do you do it alone, or did you have someone to do part of the driving?
