THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I MEANT STEVE. I'M NOT POSITIVE BUT I BELIEVE DAVE IS STILL ALIVE AND KICKING. DAVE MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN MIFFED, AND FOR GOOD REASON, WHEN SOME IDIOT CRITICIZED HIS FOOD SAFETY POSTS BEING ON THE FRONT PAGE SO OFTEN. THAT WAS JUST BEFORE THEY INCREASED THE SIZE OF THE FRONT PAGE. I HAD MAYBE A DOZEN TIMES OVER THE YEARS WHEN DAVE'S SAFETY POSTS HAD A DIRECT EFFECT ON SOMETHING I WAS DOING, SURE I'M NOT ALONE THERE. PEOPLE HE HELPED OUT WITH HIS KNOWLEGE OF HOW TO BUILD AN OFFSET SMOKER?, COUNTLESS! A LOT HAS CHANGED HERE, SOME GOOD THINGS, THO NOT ALL FOR THE BETTER. RAY

Well said, Ray. SMF is still the premier site for all things smoked or grilled but there have definitely been some changes over the years.

He may also be monitoring things but can't reply. If so, DaveOmak I'm thinking and praying for you. Maybe a loved one can post a status if he can't.
And if he's passed, may he RIP.

I always click on Dave's username, hoping to see that he has logged in.
No such luck as of yet, Dave and I butt heads at first, then once we both realized that we were two broken down stubborn old farts, we got along great.
Dave helped me out at lot, his brain was the technical type, mine not so much.

If anyone has seen him online anywhere else, could you please post up an update.

thank you Brian. I hope he is ok. Dave was very helpful in my early years. gave me good advice and kept me flying right on the smoker.
