Rich, your craftsmanship is phenomenal bud! I wish I had an ounce of your talent. And your shop is just top notch!

Also, in post #16… nice pheasant! 👍
I for one would not mind seeing the rest of the head mount and the euro mount on them Whitetails.

Justin , I appreciate that bud . I have my own " style " . Lol . Simple , and I wanted it to look like that .
nice pheasant!
Thanks . He came out of Red Oak Iowa 40 years ago . My buddy has relatives up there that are big in corn and hogs . 11 farms . One year it had been wet , so when we got there the corn was still standing . The Uncle told us which field to go to first , he had a plan . When we got there he had cut a 45 on one end , then he started combining the rows from the long , uncut side . You could see the pheasants running in front of the combine .
When he got to the 45'd section , it was like a shooting gallery . Crazy .
He knew I wanted a mount , so later that day he showed up with that bird . He shot it from the combine . 32" from beak to tail , 1 " spur . Those guys go 24 hrs straight , so pretty damn decent of him to take time to do that , and wouldn't take anything for it .
Can't see the base , but it's a mix of Elmer's glue and dirt . Corn stalks stuck in the dirt mix .

I did that skull mount myself . Mountain Mike's plastic . I shot that deer about 4:30 pm . I was sitting in the stand , dead silence . I grunted , and right away heard a startled russling . He must have been laying down right across from me . I could hear him walking , real slow . Finally saw him . Stumbling and limping . It took him a long time to get into the pasture , and like I said , almost dark . The only reason I shot him was because I thought he had been hit and was dying .
When I got to him , the only bullet was mine . I figured he was sick with CWD . Got him skinned and cut up ,, but it weighed on me that something was wrong with him . My choice is it's not worth the chance , and decided to toss it all . That made me stop hunting really . Hate to waste a life like that . but he was done anyway .
The board is old barn wood from down there .

When I repainted inside a few years ago , I got the idea to make that area more " realistic "
Moved a head I had in another room , and bought some foliage stuff .
Just kind of threw it together to get an idea .

That store bought stuff is expensive . I At the time I was thinking in about a month I'll have a whole yard full of the stuff for free .
So I have a bunch of stuff in the garage , but never got any farther with it yet .
I need some advice from Ishi Ishi on how or if I need to treat the natural stuff from the yard , then settle on an arrangement / layout .
There's an idea in there somewhere .

Dang cool table (I really the cherry top you are working for a second version) and nice ledge of mounts.

PS can you please explain to my wife that those cut of pieces in your shop are not "waste" but bonus pieces for the "next" project.....LOL!

To my unskilled eye it looks perfect.
Thanks Jim . It's fine . The lighter woods don't hide stuff as well as darker ones do .
Great work & workshop Chop, and that is a pretty cool looking little nook for those mounts.
Thanks bud . I'm gonna have to get the shop cleaned up before I do anything else .
I wish I had a Doe mount to go with the Bucks . Gonna get that lined out up there . I have lights that shine up at night . Looks cool .

Thanks . Yeah , that cherry is gonna be nice . Taking a break from it to work on this .
Dad passed in 2012 . Been in his shop since then . To many eyeballs looking at it , figured I better get it out of there . 400 pounds !

Waste !! That's art . You know how many knife handles are in that pile ?
It's hard to throw that hard wood away . I grab stuff out of there all the time .
That's piled up from 3 other tables . I need to get it cleaned up .

Nice saw and I KNOW on the handle thing......The problem is I think I have more knife handle wood than I can make knives.....LOL still need MORE!!!

Well , while I was waiting for finish to dry , I figured I would clean up ( thank the wife for the motivation ) . Instead of moving it from one spot to the next , I decided to use it up . Quick browse around Etsy to get some ideas .
Then threw some parts on my roll around bunch and started cutting stuff up .

Ended up with these 3 boxes pretty quick . 2 Maple / Cherry ,
and a Walnut Maple .

That section of Maple has some nice figure in it too .

Got another box almost finished , and parts cut for 2 more .

This Cherry single drawer Shaker style night stand / end table was first in the rotation . Did it right before the Maple table . Cut parts yesterday to do another like it in Maple .

Rich, everything looks incredible! I have no skills in these areas, which makes it more impressive to me. Great works!
