So back in November I got orders to go to Bahrain for a year. Had to leave the family which is harder than anything I could have imagined, but I’ll save the sob story haha. I reported about two months ago and finally got my stuff delivered today. My main savior was my Smokey Joe. I got it picked up some charcoal and did a little burn off for it since I haven’t had to use it in years. I went and got some basic seasonings and a “sirloin” stake. I say it like that bc it didn’t really taste like it haha. Figuring there would be some failures with the SJ (but that’s all I have to work with) off the bat I wasn’t expecting much. Like I said the steak tasted a bit off but it worked. Enough with the talk here are my less than proud of pictures 😆. Had include the knifes (3rd set thanks to everyone on here). Haven’t posted much lately bet definitely have been reading posts and everyone looks to be killing it on here still!

Been to Bahrain a few times, but always passing thru. Never got PCS'd. Lotta kids I used to work with in the AS rating were always telling me they made a killing on per diem etc etc. Stay cool and you'll be home before you know it.

“sirloin” stake.

Looks like a steak cut from the sirloin cap / Picanha .
Not a bad hunk of meat . Off taste could be how it was raised / grass fed .
Looks good , and bet it was some comfort .

Shit , no sob story . Share some stories from home , and like said , you'll be back before you know it .

BTW . I scored a new in box Smokey Joe a few years back . Finally used it to do some steaks .
Don't count that thing out . It's a great option .

Heck, that steak looks great too me, nice job.

Grass fed or pasture raised for sure, the yellow fat says it all.
It's caused by the Beta Carotene in the grass, I love the flavor of grass fed beef. And you don't have to worry about taking any vitamin A supplements, because G.F. beef is loaded with it.

I've had NZ beef. And the flavor profile is a bit different. Looks good though.
Thanks Steve. I didn’t actually pay attention to that when I got it until you mentioned it. I’m use to going to Walmart, meijer, GFS and grabbing what they had haha
