Couple questions from a noob regarding building a wood smokehouse

Firstly.  What kind of wood should I get, and can it be treated?  I thought I heard that it should not be treated cause of the chemicals they use.  I will be using this mostly for heat smoking.  And secondly where do I get this awesome fire boxes I keep seeing?  I did a quick search and I'm having trouble find something easy that I can connect the piping too.  Any help appreciated, thanks!
