What's the best way to make counter weights for doors on a RF smoker
 
Ideally, you want the counter weight to be an inch or six on the door side of the hinges when closed to hold the door closed..   Then the amount of weight is subjective to how much you want to lift....   Some folks use a piece of steel pipe for the weight and fill it as necessary to counter balance the door...
