Don't y'all have carbon steel and cast iron skillets? If my Noni didn't use it at home or in the family restaurant, I don't need it at home, is how I try to decide what to buy.
But then again, Noni could've out cooked most people just using her one old beat up knife, and a C.I. skillet.

It's funny what we think we need to prepare good food these days.
I have both carbon steel and cast iron skillet. One of the reasons I was having hard time buying Hexclad pans. I got mine yesterday. Looking forward to using them.

I have a cast iron skillet. I use it when its too cold to fire up the propane grill.

It's funny how people concern themselves with what other people have or what they think others should or should not have.

The pots and pans are fantastic. I made a tuna noodle casserole in the big pan last week and a cheeseburger casserole this morning. Nothing stuck in the pan and it was easy to clean with no scrubbing.

I made a rotini w/ italian sausage as well in tha 5 qt pot. Nothing stuck to the bottom.

In contrast my old set burned and stuck to the bottom of the pot every time.

I have yet to use the grille pan, the square, omelette pan, square frying pan, 14" frying pan, roasting pan or the vegetable steamer and sauce pan. The cookie sheets, bread tray and muffin pans will all get used in due time this January and February.

Over New Year's I plan to do a 4 bone standing rib roast recipe I have been dying to try. This will be done in the oven with the roasting pan.

In closing, I'm happy with everything I bought. Less scrubbing of burnt things or things that stick makes cooking more enjoyable and rewarding and I can make everything I desire when I want to.

Not concerned in the least, it was just an observation, did it hurt your feelings?
If so that was not my intentions.
Dan.

Wait a minute, let's back up here - People still make and eat tuna noodle casserole? I thought that disappeared the day the music died.

Hi Mile-High Smoker Girl. I don’t know anything about your kitchen experience but I do know a thing or two about my own, being 72 and the family cook for my entire adult life. I say you don’t need fancy teflon or other trendy non-stick cookware. Non-stick has been around since the days of well-seasoned cast iron. I don’t use it anymore because it is too heavy, but a couple of good carbon steel pans will last you forever. It is all about technique. All-Clad and Made In are excellent choices for stainless. A little Barkeepers Friend and they clean up spotlessly.

Ah I love people that tell others what they don't need. I don't need the custom ice fishing rods that I have as I do have other cheaper rods that have served me well but I wanted different specs (and some is the look factor) so now I have really good spares for taking others out with me.
She wanted new cookware that had nonstick properties, liked the blue color apparently, maybe she didn't want all heavy cast iron or there are different types or sizes that might not be available in cast or steel. I have cookware I'm sure my wife thinks we don't need and I can assure you that she has some that I don't think we need yet we have them because they are tools that serve their purpose and we each liked them.

I totally agree! Maybe just congratulate a person for their new pans... as long as the owner has a smile on their face nothing else matters. That is of course unless they have a spouse... but we all know how to ask for forgiveness! :emoji_blush:

For the cost of that set I would have bought it also. I have one of those blue ones and it has performed very well. Not going to knock the hexclad (never used) I am sure they are phenomenal but a high price point.
