Which is preferred for sealing the cook-chamber door? I leak pretty bad. Can't decide between Hi-temp RTV or felt tape. Pros and cons of each?
That's kinda the way is thinking. Did you do all around at once, or a side at a time? After reading tons of posts on here I went with the red RTV. It has worked well and closed up most of my gaps. Hardest places to seal was underneath where smoker doors close and butt up against the top. Just hard trying to squeeze the tube and get it in there to where it would stick. I got it but it could probably use more.
Haven't used my off-set enough to see how well it holds heat, did ok with the wings Sunday. Just always heard they need to be sealed. My vertical, I've never done any sealing on. It leaks like crazy, but works fine.Am no expert but I think Al your spot on. As long as you're holding a temp your just fine. If it bugs you that it's leaking by all means try and plug it up. If your having problems holding a temp then sure try and plug that up a little see if helps!
Nope, New Braunsfel. Don't know the model, Just bought it off facebook for 20 bucks last week.Kawboy, do you have a Okie Joe?
