Does anyone on here compete? I've never been to a competition but would like to attend one to see if I'm interested in the hobby. Looking for info on them. Also, if you guys do compete, please show me your competition rigs =). Thank youuuu

I have competed in two KCBS competitions and a cook off at the local fair. That was not like the KCBS comps at all though.

I don't have a pic of the smoker it is at my bbq partners place but it is just a cheap Brinkmann offset. I would encourage you to attend a comp and see what you think. We did before we went and it was pretty helpful. Got to ask a lot of questions and see different setups etc. Actually we were able to go to two. Kind of nice.

Aside from the equipment and meat expenses. What kind of money do you have to drop? I know a lot of people compete, so do you just pay to play?

The contest at the fair was free and they provided the food for that. The KCBS comps were a whole different thing altogether. The entry fee on both of the ones we did was $250.00. Not too bad really considering the fun we had doing them.
