Yup---I started doing that years ago:
I only buy Choice Prime Ribs when they're on sale, and if the sale is good enough, I get 4, 5, or 6 of them. Then I trim all the bones out for a Big Rib Smoke, because even though we only make & eat 1 Prime Rib at one time, I don't want to do Beef Ribs, unless there is enough to fill one of my MES 40 racks (I just did a new one last week---Be posting soon).
Around Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving are usually the best time to find Choice Prime Rib on sale.
So I buy, trim, and freeze them usually in the Winter, and wait for a nice day in another season for the big Rib Smoke.
