cleaning the temp probe

What does everybody use to clean the temp probe in the smoker. I have tried white vinegar, grill cleaner but I cannot get it clean and shiny. I don't want to put too much pressure against it don't want to damage it.

I use the green scratchy pad side of a kitchen sponge

... after the SS wool, I will use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Works great on your handheld probes as well.

Unless you are running a pellet smoker and the cleanliness of the temp probe is a factor. Just my experience talking.

I use Emery cloth, the same stuff I use to clean copper pipe with before I solder a pipe fitting .

Probably not recommended but I usually just use a little spit on my finger and the shirt I'm wearing to wipe it off because I'm probably just to lazy to walk back in the house to get something. , so I would follow the other responses first.

I use the alcohol wipes, too. Works great. Key is clean it either before or after each cook.

The blue Scotch pad is made for glass and similar surfaces to avoid scratching. I would recommend it for the probe.

will have to get one of those scotch pads, Didn't know you could use a pad like that. didn't want to damage it. thanks for the advise.
