Anyone clean out under the RV plate. I found car keys, panties and a block of wood not to mention all the fire ash from day one!

So I will oil this up with a rag and a stick before next burn...
 
Install a drain... ~ 1 1/4" pipe with a valve.... Wash it out....
Agreed. But large valves are pretty pricey. A black iron threaded plug may be the ticket if you're on a budget.
"Exercise" them every cook with some cooking oil on the threads (I'm loving the spray Kirtland stuff) or they'll be rusted in place before you need to clean.
That may not be bad advice with a nice valve either.

ADDENDUM: If you have access from your firebox, chimney sweep tools could be useful. Many are drill mounted to combine rotation with the manual longitudinal motion.
