It's been a while since I've had a chance to post. Way to much going on. Things have finally settled and I had a chance to take an afternoon and have some fun.
Christmas is just around the corner so it was time to make some Finker. This is something we always had during the holidays growing up. Old school Danish breakfast food. There is no way SWIMBO would ever eat the original so I modified it to make it acceptable the her.
3 pounds fine ground pork loin
2 pounds turkey breast

1 large onion, chopped

4 apples, chopped. I used golden delicious

2 and 1/2 cups white sugar

1 tbs cinnamon
1 tbs cloves
1 tbs allspice

3 cups white vinegar
Stir it all up and simmer for 2 hours till is all cooked.

It isn't the prettiest but what it lacks in looks it more than makes up for in taste and smell. A couple of poached eggs and a slice of toast is all I need to bring back memories of my childhood.

The original from my grandfather.
3 pounds beef heart
3 pounds beef or pork liver
4 cups white vinegar
6 cups white sugar
1 tbs cinnamon
1 tbs cloves
1 tbs allspice
8 apples
2 onions
Cook the liver and heart, grind fine.
Mix it all up and smimmer.

Not soup. Think Danish version of Mexican chorizo. Where chorizo is vinegary, spicy, savory this is vinegary, sweet.
