I cooked pulled pork for a charity event last Friday.

The event provided disadvantaged folks with clothes washing, drying, and soap and once their clothes were in the wash, they could come get a plate.

I did 6 boneless shoulders. (I swear I ordered bone in...) I used Jeff's Texas rub as a base and added brown sugar for bark and paprika for color. Jeff's Texas rub has quickly become my favorite AP rub. Perfect blend of flavors with a nice pepper bite.

I found out something about my smoker with it loaded full like that. The right side of the smoker is hotter than the left. I almost ruined a couple shoulders by overcooking them. I only had probes in two of the left side shoulders. Anyway, now that I know that, my cooks will be even better.

We served 90 dinners and the pulled pork was a smash. It turned out with great flavor and the fat was rendered perfectly. Seriously the best pulled pork I have ever made. Some folks came back 4 times for food!!! I had one shoulder left at the end and ate that over the weekend.

To top the sandwiches off I used KC Bubba Q juice and Yellow Bubba Q Juice. I also made one of the yellow Bubba Q juices extra hot. Thanks to Chef Jimmy J for those fine recipes.

Stacey from Batter up Bake Shop provided some delicious cookies for dessert.

Turned into a 16 hour day. I was beat... OY!

Well done JC, It's always nice to give back to those less fortunate in the community.

Point for sure
Chris

Very good of you to do. People getting clean clothes and fed at the same time. Helping out in two ways at once is cool. Are you the only one that cooked?
I cooked the pork but another lady baked the cookies. She is a professional baker and they were very good. The rest was all packaged food.

I'm glad it worked out for ya JC!

Next time call in the reinforcements. I'd make the trip to GB to bring up some BBQ if ya needed it :)

I like that idea... Now that I am a bit more experienced, I would feel comfortable cooking with others. :emoji_wink::emoji_sunglasses:

Now that my name is out there, I am sure I will get more offers. Will hit you up when that happens... :emoji_cat:
