I have a char gril offset smoker. Am having problems with charcoal and wood ashes restricting airflow under charcoal/wood in the firebox. Any suggestions on how to raise the charcoal/wood grill plate to allow more room fornash build-up?

Also, I seem to lose a lot of smoke and heat through chamber leaks at the seam when the top is down. Anyway of sealing that seam? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a great day

Cliffcarter, thanks for the link. Purchased expanded metal grate today. Will cut and install it at the higher position tomorrow to see how it works out. Afraind some larger pieces of wood may not fit very well with higher charcoal grate but we will see. Just FYI, tried inverting cooking chamber coal grate to see if I could even smoke distribution. Seemed to work pretty good. Will continue testing in the future

Also saw something about glueing a heat gasket on the bottom of the lid to seal the seem when the hood is down. Will see if I can find some and install later this week

Thanks again for suggestions

I cut my splits at 9-10 inches long, the cut offs I use as chunks in the kettle.

Does anyone have experience with the Pitmaster automatic temperature control IQ110? If so, has it been effective in controlling temps? How is it attached to the smoker and how difficult is it mounting it? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
