Kind of new to cast iron. Got the cleaning and seasoning down now. My cast iron skillet is quick and easy to clean no matter the foods I try. I never thought I would have considered cast iron non-stick but through trial and error mine is.

I bought it primarily for a nice crust when frying meats. Pork chops, steaks, fish, chicken livers so far. Anyway I am asking for opinions for a frying oil. Peanut oil, vegetable shortening, Crisco vegetable oil, or Crisco Canola oil. Shallow fry only. Right now my favorite is Crisco Vegetable shortening.

Most of the time I use Crisco shortening or veggie oil

Crisco and cast iron are a perfect match in my opinion . I use peanut oil in the deep fryer .

I’m almost 100% avocado oil. One of the highest smoke points and very healthy. I use it in cast iron and on my Blackstone griddle. I buy ours in bulk by the gallon.

Usually Canola oil or butter. I just put Avocado oil on my shopping list. Our smoke detector is very sensitive LOL!
