Hey there need some advise I just bought a new dual fuel Masterbuilt smoker and while I was seasoning and test burning the unit yesterday. I couldn't get the unit to burn in the low 200 deg F. On low with gas the lowest temp I could achieve was 340 deg with all of the vents closed. I did read that i could install a gas needle regulator - but not sure how to to that.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

Does it sound like a faulty factory installed regulator?

I've got the same smoker. Had the same issues you have.
In a pinch (because my needle valve didn't come yet), I added a gas shutoff valve. Like the one behind a gas range. It worked, but the needle valve is sooo much easier to fine tune the flame. I also got rid of the stock chip pan and use a 8" cast iron pan. You will need to raise it off the burner somehow. Some drill 3 hloes in the pan and add 3-4" bolts/nuts. You can also use a old grate off of a gas range between the burner and pan.

Many options to mod these smokers. Do a search for masterbuilt smoker mods. You'll be reading for hrs. Good luck.

Also, don't trust the door thermometer,. There usually WAY off. Mines 60* off on the low side.
Get a maverick dual probe. Work great. ....
