I read the other day about a Swiss company canning air from the Alps to sell to consummers living in polluted cities. 20$ for a can....enough for 100 something breaths.

Turns out there is a Canadian company who's been selling Canadian Rockies air for a few years. They sell Banff air, Lake Louise air.

I've thought I've seen everything.
Disgusting.

Perri-air from Spaceballs the movie! I guess that movie was ahead of its time.

Well disgusting might be a bit harsh...
The disgusting thing is there are people who feel they have a need for this and others simply silly enough to buy and try it.
A fool and his money...
Can't really blame the company if people are buying it.

Boy if one of the employee's was a little deviant imagine the flavorful possibilities.

WTH is disgusting about it? Seriously?

Somebody sees a market and tries to fill it with a product.
Their time, effort and money and it'll either sell or not, their gain or loss.
Nobody is forced to buy it.
If you don't want or like it, don't buy it.

Go to Beijing, Mexico City, Tokyo, Riyadh, Cameroon or etc.
Go to anywhere in the world where there is extreme air pollution an you'll find air/oxygen bars.
These places make the worst air pollution in the US look like a fresh spring morning in Yosemite.
It is nothing new.

If you're pissed that people feel forced to pay for a breath of fresh air, then don't get mad at the person making a buck off it.
Get mad at the governments/corporations creating, enabling/sustaining and/or doing little to nothing about the problem.

Just Like Rings and his anti-capitalism rant on people bottling water and getting rich... So what?!?!
Bottling and selling water has been around for centuries, since the early 1600s in the form of so-called 'Holy' and/or 'Medicinal' mineral spring waters.

You gotta be kidding...A can of spray solves the pollution problem? Last time i checked one breathes about every 5 seconds. That can will last you a whole 10 minutes. 20$ for 10 minutes.
Hope you never have to pay for your clean air.

By that logic coke dealing is perfectly acceptable.

My supplemental oxygen delivered in high pressure tanks cost my insurance company a minimum of $700.00 a month. It gives me about 8 hours a day I can be away from my oxygen machine I have in my home...
It's a medical necessity, I could at the least end up hospitalized without it; brain damaged or worse at the extreme end...
To me THAT is a little "disgusting" as it's an absolute necessity...to offer much the same for sale to the general public not so much. They at least have the CHOICE.

Hi Walt,

Sorry to hear about your situation.

It's not the same thing: you use medical oxygen not plain air.

The companies i mentioned are selling air. They don't offer a choice. People can't live breathing canned air.

An analogy would be selling drops of water to people with no access to clean water.

Pure Athabasca Glacier water in new oversize 75ml bottle. Pipette included.

Well I learned something new again. I had to look up pipette. Thanks Atomic.

Chris

The "choice" they have is to or not to purchase. No one is forcing anyone to purchase this canned air.
Is it sad that air pollution in some areas is so bad there is s market for this product or that some people feel compelled to make the purchase?
I'd say yes, but again they do have the choice not purchase the product.

Bottled water, which I have purchased traveling Mexico when I wore a younger mans clothes.
An analogy i can make is selling groceries...why is that not also frowned upon...poor hungry people throughout the world being forced to by food...how disgusting is that?

Air polution is mentioned a lot as the reason behind these ventures.
How is a can of compressed air (or 10) gonna aleviate the problem?

We could start a business that has customers go in a room that has a comfy bed you lie down on and ocean noise comes on and the room fills up with clean oxygen for an hour. Get it to where Dr.'s can prescribe it and insurances will pay.. charge $500.00

Maybe that's like a hyperbaric oxygen chamber? Lol oh well..

I left an oxygen bar the other night and got pulled over. They gave me a breath test and I came up positive for air.

Bottled water is an alternative to tap water used for drinking. A can of compressed air is not an alternative to the air one breathes.

Man has been working to put food on the table since we exist as species. At the root of the civilization this is why we get up in the morning. To work for/bring food home.

If we start monetizing the air around us don't be surprised when you are told is not the government's business to ensure your air is clean. You don't like it, buy your own supply.
